In the spirit of competition, the Greek have been holding Songfest for 90 years. Songfest originally began as a men’s singing competition. Through the years, it has evolved into a choreographed dance competition among LSU’s fraternities and sororities, as well as the primary fundraising event for GBOD.
In 2012 twenty-eight chapters were randomly paired to create ten ensemble groups. Each group performed a choreographed dance routine for five judges. The judges’ scores were combined with three bonus point opportunities: t-shirt sales, ticket sales and a banner competition. The highest point totals will determine the first, second, and third place winners. There will also be recognition for judges’ awards, including Best Male Performance, Best Costume and Crowd Appeal.
